To Take from God
Noah Thomason
The Son of Isaac grappled God alone.
The stubborn one, with dust upon his chest,
Swindler, trickster, birthright-stealer, thrown,
Refused to go until he had been blessed.
A sickly woman, by her blood beset,
Pushed through the throng, and touched the Lord God’s fleece.
Her bleeding ceased, the illness gone, and yet,
He would not let her go without His peace.
Both sought to take from God. One, full of pride,
Demanded blessings from th’Almighty One,
The other, healed and humbled, purified,
Repented, faith in God her healing done.
Yet God both blessed with Pow’r, one named, one healed,
For God is Love, and Love’s His Pow’r revealed.
